Homecare
You can choose to arrange care through a home care agency.
Home care agencies will provide trained care workers who can come to your home to assist with tasks such as -
- shopping
- cleaning
- laundry
- personal care such as - washing, bathing, dressing and using the toilet
- meal preparation
- taking medication
- treating ongoing health problems which require specialist nursing input (including receiving injections, changing dressings and bandages)
- going out in the local community
Home care is a way of being supported in your own home, in an environment that you are comfortable and familiar while staying close to family and friends.
Visit our community directory to search for local homecare, cleaning and shopping providers.
Domestic help
Some of the home care agencies provide domestic help as part their services. However, if you only need domestic help (cleaning, ironing, etc) you may find it cheaper to use a domestic agency. You can employ these services to come in on a regular or one off basis.
To find local charities and organisations that may be able to help with domestic tasks search our Community support directory.
If you are going to employ your own cleaner, rather than use an agency, always ask for and check references.
