Ending a DPA

The Deferred Payment Agreement can come to an end in one of the following ways -

  • voluntarily, where you, or your representative, repay the full amount due
  • on the sale of the property
  • upon your death

Once ended the full amount due (including care home charges, any interest accrued, and any administrative or legal fees charged) must be paid by yourself or your representative to the local authority immediately.

If the loan ends due to your death it becomes payable from your estate 90 days later.
